JANUARY GATHERING AT WAGON WHEEL
Henry Meller started the dinner with a prayer. Members then enjoyed a
delicious meal of broasted chicken, beef tips, mashed potatoes and gravy,
dressing, hot vegetables, and hot rolls. The meal included an assortment
of salad items including cole slaw. Cake was served to complete the meal.
KETTLE KARVER OF THE YEAR
Ron Feld was introduced as Kettle Karver of the Year by Larry Lienau and was
presented the plaque, which now includes his name. Ron is an active member of
our club. He has held many positions with the club, most recently Show Chairman.
Each year a member is chosen to be designated as "Kettle Karver of the Year"
by a member vote. The award is not given solely on carving ability, but given
to the person who makes a significant contribution to the club. Ron will keep
the plaque until the next election.
Ron thanked the club, saying he felt there should have been a recount.
Darrell Abston reminded all members who are working on a block for the Lakeland friendship cane that the blocks need to be
turned in at or before the February meeting.
Six $25 gift cards to either Fleet Farm, Menards, or Miesfelds were up for grabs. Each member received a ticket passed out by
Larry Lienau. Numbers were drawn and the winners were Roger Carlson, Larry Lienau, Jeff See, Willie Van Sluys, John Wyatt,
and Richard Young. Congratulations to the winners.
